Leading Irish Artists donate paintings for Irish Culture Centre in London

A very kind offer by the Lord of the Dance star and leading artist Michael Flatley to donate the proceeds from the sale of one of his paintings to the Irish Cultural Centre in London motivated the volunteer fundraising committee at the Centre to approach other well known Irish Artists to ask them to help also.
The response has been fantastic and well known artists such as James Brohan, Brian Ballard, JB Vallely, Liam O’Neill, Brian Whelan, Amanda Shirlow and Bernadette Keating have also agreed to help and donate pictures. “Given the calibre and generosity of the artists in supporting the Irish Cultural Centre and the value of the paintings themselves it was very important to identify a venue which would do justice to the paintings “ said Jim O’Hara, Chairman of the Centre. “We approached Barbara Stanley of Irish Art in London who has a beautiful Gallery in Central London which specialises in Contemporary Irish Art. Having heard of our plans Barbara offered to display each painting on a rolling basis at her gallery alongside her own exhibitions with all of the proceeds from the donated paintings going to the Irish Cultural Centre.”
The exhibition open’s with James Brohan’s magnificent painting of Seamus Heaney and will run for a number of months as each painting is displayed. Details of this project can be viewed on the Irish Culture Centre website – http://www.irishculturalcentre.co.uk
